It excites me on another level to launch a 50 hr Continuing Professional Development in Yoga Anatomy and Posture Analysis. This course is ideal if you are looking to deepen your anatomical knowledge in order to enhance your own practice. I am pedantic about the anatomical technicalities of each and every posture and transition. The mechanics of the asanas have been the object of my meditation for some time now, with the physical highs and lows of practice being a huge part of my emotional and spiritual journey. A self-confessed ‘anatomy geek,’ I have learnt anatomy though practice, injury, achieving a physical goals and failing them too; from understanding what works and what doesn’t; and most of all, through sheer dedication to my practice. From a die hard Ashtangee to a Vinyasa Flow fanatic to a Rocket Yoga junkie, I bring a very practical course to Liverpool. Share my 8 years of an anatomical journey!!!
The course runs alongside my 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training in Ashtanga Yoga and Yoga Anatomy and is registered with Yoga Alliance on my Yoga Alliance Continuing Educational Provider profile.
This course is ideal if you have a regular practice and are familiar with Ashtanga Yoga. The course will be taught as a part of the 200 hr YTTC and so an established yoga practice is essential. If you are already 200 hrs certified and want more anatomy, this will allow you to explore not just your physicality but that of your peers. We are all different. We are all different and this concept will be explored in detail.
The course will be centred around the postures of Ashtanga Yoga with emphasis on the anatomy of postures rather than the sequence itself. You will learn the content of the course through theory, exploration and practice. With heaps of time allocated to posture analysis, you will really reap the benefits of achieving good posture through yoga. With a morning practice of Ashtanga Yoga, students will have the opportunity to explore the skeletal muscular system through practice with a very anatomical and technical commentary provided throughout the practice.
Yoga Course Objectives
- Origin and insertion to determine muscle functionality
- Movement of the hip, shoulder, spine and knee joints
- Shoulder and hip stability
- Posture analysis in detail
- Common yoga injuries and prevention
This will run Monday to Friday for 2 weeks and will be taught as part of the 200 hr YTTC.
- 7.30 to 9.30am Ashtanga Yoga Explored
- 9.30 to 10am Breathwork or Chanting
- 10am to 12pm Brunch
- 12 to 3pm Anatomy Workshop
Saturday 16th January: 1 to 6pm
Monday to Friday 18th, to 22nd January: 7.30am to 5.30pm (brunch and study time 10 to 12pm)
Monday to Friday, 25th to 29th January: 7.30am to 5.30pm (brunch and study time 10 to 12pm)
The course will tale place at Yogacita in the Baltic Triangle, Liverpool’s alternative hub. The studio can host 18 students, within COVID restrictions and is a great place for training with lots of nearby cafes to grab brunch and sustenance for the day!
200 hr course tuition, maximum 18 students (including 50 hr Yoga Anatomy CPD students)
Studio facilities and use of equipment (It is advised that you bring your own mat, blocks and a strap due to COVID.)
